Philanthropy

The Drake Law Chapter of Delta Theta Phi strives to give back to the local community and the world. Some of the events we hold each year are:

Kiss the Pig
This event takes place at the law school and benefits the Iowa Heart Foundation. Various professors "volunteer" to be a part of the competition, and throughout the week students donate money to whichever professor they want to see "Kiss the Pig." All money collected goes directly to the charity.

Wing-Eating Competition
This event takes place at a local bar and benefits iCARE (Iowa Central American Relief Effort). Law students collect pledges for their wing-eating capability and then compete in a 15-minute all-you-can-eat wing competition. Prizes for the contestants are donated by local merchants. All money collected goes directly to the charity.

Karaoke Night
This event takes place at a local karaoke bar and benefits the James A. Albert Foundation, benefitting children in Belize. The Delts sell raffle tickets during the weeks preceeding the competition, which are used to award prizes donated by local merchants. There is also one Grand Prize which is drawn at the end of the evening. All money collected goes directly to the charity.
